The event is kindly hosted by Jörg Rupf, founder of St. George Spirits in Alameda. He will give a personal introduction to spirit making. A complimentary tasting of those products and snacks are included. Also a selection of rare family imported Chinese Tea is offered by our friend Niki Santo.
You are cordially invited to join us for the first East Bay concert of MUSIC AT HOME. Many of you have heard cellist Angela Lee performing in several of our
former events. This time she will be joined by
her sisters Lisa and Melinda for THE LEE TRIO and it is a great pleasure to welcome them in our series. The international acclaimed ensemble has received numerous awards and performs regularly all over Europe, Asia and the US. They also enjoy giving masterclasses and performing works of living composers. On the program the contemporary Piano Trio in F sharp by Philip Lasser from 2003, in which the composer combines the old romantic tradition of Brahms with modern elements of American music. It is followed by Schumann's highly romantic D minor trio, written "with fire and passion" especially for private and intimate venues like the ones we choose for our chamber music concerts. More information about THE LEE TRIO can be found here.
The program reflects elements from both the new and
old worlds, and so does our side program during the interval. Jörg, our host, came to California from Germany almost 30 years ago and founded
the first fruit distillery in the US, St. George Spirits/ Hangar One in Alameda. He will give us a short insight into fruit
distillation and you will have the chance for a
complementary tasting of some of those hand crafted products.
For those of us who
are not into liquor drinking, our friend Niki Santo will provide a selection of rare
chinese tea directly imported from China by her own family. Thank you Niki and Jörg, for sharing your passion with us!
