MUSIC AT HOME in Japan:
LUNCH TIME CONCERT - THREE SONATAS IN G
Private Recital in Yokohama
Saturday, May 15th, 2010 at 2pm
Kindly hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Naganishi
Mozart: Sonata in G major K. 301
Beethoven: Sonata No. 8 Op. 30, 3 in G major
Debussy: Sonata in G (1917)
Piazzolla: Tangos and Milongas for Violin and Piano
Yoko Shimoura, piano
Karsten Windt, violin
Karsten is on orchestra tour to Asia in spring 2010 and takes the
opportunity to bring his chamber music series from San Francisco to
Japan. Pianist of the recital is Yoko Shimoura. Karsten and Yoko studied
in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama at the same time
where they gave a few concerts together. Upon a DSO tour to Japan in 2007 with maestro Kent Nagano, Yoko had also joined the Akanthus Ensemble Berlin for children's concerts at the German Embassy and a public school in Tokyo, where the group performed for over 400 school kids with great success.
This program will trace back some steps of the history of the violin sonata from Mozart to Debussy. Since the Tango came to Europe at about the same time when Debussy wrote his violin sonata, the program will be spiced up with some Milongas and Tangos by Astor Piazzolla at the end of the concert.
Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Naganishi for inviting us to play in your private salon.
